NDIS worker screening check workaround

NDIS worker screening check workaround

So you want to get into Support Work.

But before you can sit across from a single client, before you can do a damn thing, the system needs its pound of flesh... the NDIS Worker Screening Check.

Simple enough, right? That's what I thought.

Here's the thing about red tape. It doesn't care about you. It doesn't care about the people waiting for support.

It just is this glorious, self-defeating machine that exists to perpetuate itself.

To get the Screening Check, you need an Employer ID.

To get an Employer ID, a Provider has to hire you.

But to get hired by a Provider, they want to see your Screening Check.

Help me make sense of that.

You need the job to get the check. You need the check to get the job. Somewhere, in a beige government office, someone designed this process and went home feeling good about themselves. And got paid for it too.

Unless I am missing something...

I spent time in the weeds on this one. And I found something... not a solution exactly, more like a side door left unlocked.

Mable. HireUp.

Create a profile on their platform and they hand over their Employer ID for the check, because technically, in their universe, you work for them.

Is it perfect? No. Is it the way things should work? Absolutely not. But it's what I've got right now.

If you know a better way, and someone out there does, say something. People are waiting.
