The thing nobody tells you about starting a new life at forty-something is that it can feel undignified.
You imagine reinvention as cinematic. Noble. Maybe even triumphant.
But crickets...
And being unable to shake the feeling that others may view you as having failed in your previous "life"...
Unless you're coming from a hiatus... If it's a plain ol' career switch - unless you've quit your job to write the next big novel, or be the next Sting or Eddie Vedder - there's no "magic" in it.
Or is just my negative thinking creeping in?
Either way, the march is on...
